Development of Mortar-filled Sleeve Splice for SD500 Reinforcing Bar and Evaluation of its Structural Performance under Monotonic Loading

초록

The objective of this study is to develop the mortar-filled sleeve splice for SD500 reinforcing bar, which is made from ductile cast iron and evaluate its structural performance through a monotonic loading test. The test variables selected in this study include the development length of reinforcing bar in sleeve, compressive strength of filling mortar, and bar size among others. We compared and evaluated various aspects of structural performance of the rebar splices, including strength, ductility and slip, to ensure conformance with domestic and other major codes, and to analyze the effects as per those experimental variables. The results of this study showed that the developed mortar-filled sleeve splice for SD500 reinforcing bar retained the structural performance required in domestic, ACI and AIJ codes. And it is considered that the study result presented in this paper can be helpful in obtaining quantitative engineering data for developing reasonable methods of designing mortar-filled sleeve splice for SD500 reinforcing bar.
