Investigations of Al2O3:C for Dosimetry Using Luminescence Stimulated by Blue Light

During recent years, significant developments in optically stimulated luminescence have been made regarding radiation dosimetry, age determination, and medical applications. In these applications, Al2O3:C has attracted great interest as the most promising material because of its excellent OSL properties. In this study, some aspects of the use of Al2O3:C for the purpose of dosimetry using luminescence stimulated by blue light were investigated. Al2O3:C was found to detect ultra-low radiation doses with no sensitivity changes for re-use. In addition, excellent precision and accuracy for absorbed dose determination were evident. These results suggest that Al2O3:C is capable of being applied effectively in dosimetry using luminescence stimulated by blue light.
