Characteristics of the radiation pulse in a free-electron laser

We have analyzed the characteristics of a radiation pulse in a free-electron laser oscillator. We have developed a one-dimensional time-dependent free-electron laser (1D time-dependent FEL) code with radiation pulse effects in a free-electron laser oscillator with a wiggler period of 0.02 m, a wiggler length of 2 m, an electron beam energy of 50 MeV, and an electron beam current of 50 A. The effects of the radiation pulse on the energy spread of the electron beam in the range of 0 to 1% have been investigated by using the time-dependent FEL code. The pulse shape of the emitted field's amplitude for various detuning parameters in the range from 0% to 0.9% and the spectrum of the emitted field's amplitude in the time range from 0 μs to 4.0 μs have been analyzed and optimized by using the 1D time-dependent FEL code that we have developed.
