중소도시 베이비붐세대의 여가라이프스타일과 생성감과의 관계

초록

This paper seeks to define the relationship between the leisure lifestyle and sense of generativity of the baby boomer generation in small- and medium-sized cities so as to provide basic data to allow them to re-design an ideal leisure lifestyle and to improve a positive sense of generativity. A total of 300 subjects were gathered using the convenient sampling method from among the baby boomer generation who have lived in small- and medium-sized cities for over 10 years. The survey questionnaires, developed by Son Yeong-mi, O Se-suk and U Seong-nam(2010), and Lee Ok-hui and Lee Ji-yeon(2012), were revised and complemented to be applied in this research. The findings of this study are summarized below. First, according to sociodemographic variables, a difference in leisure lifestyle and sense of generativity was analyzed, revealing that the female baby boomers had a highly rational and plan-based leisure lifestyle, and a sense of generativity with a high sense of real-based optimism and social contribution, and interaction and freedom. Those baby boomers who did not receive pensions but currently had a job and wanted to continue work in later life enjoyed more work-oriented leisure lifestyle. Those baby boomers who currently had no job focused on a leisure lifestyle with high sensuous pursuit, interpersonal relationship, and rational plans. Second, the effects of the said baby boomers' leisure lifestyle on their sense of generativity were examined, revealing that the absence of leisure activities had negative effects on the sense of generativity of real-based optimism and social contribution, the middle-aged's identity establishment, and relationship and freedom. Of subordinate variables of leisure lifestyle, sensuous pursuit, family orientation, rational planning, and relationship orientation had positive effects on sense of generativity of real-based optimism and social contribution, and the middle-aged's identity establishment. Lastly, of the subordinate variables of leisure lifestyle, relational orientation and work orientation had positive effects on sense of generativity of relationship and freedom. In this upcoming aging society, the findings of this study will provide basic data for the development of leisure and welfare programs that can help the baby boomer generation in small- and medium-sized cities redesign an ideal leisure lifestyle and thus enhance a positive sense of generativity.
