Structural, electrical and magnetic properties of (Pr,Ca)(Ba2-xLax)Cu3Oz

Structural, electrical and magnetic properties of samples prepared with the nominal compositions of (Pr1-yCay)(Ba2-xLax)Cu3Oz are investigated as a function of La doping. We show that superconductivity is induced by La doping in (Pr0.7Ca0.3)(Ba2-xLax)Cu3Oz (x = 0.3 - 0.6) and (Pr0.5Ca0.5)(Ba2-xLax)Cu3Oz (x = 0.3 - 0.6) systems. It is also observed that the antiferromagnetic transition temperature T-N of Pr ions tends to decrease as the La doping content increases. The results are discussed in connection with the structural aspect studied by using the Rietveld method using neutron diffraction data and hybridization between Pr 4f and 0 2p of the CuO2 planes.
