키네지올로지 테이핑과 결합된 멘델슨 메뉴버가 삼킴장애를 동반한 뇌졸중 환자의 삼킴기능에 미치는 영향

초록

Purpose This study investigated the therapeutic effects of kinesiology taping (KT) combined with the mendelsohn maneuver on swallowing function in stroke patients with dysphagia. Methods Twenty post stroke patients with dysphagia were randomly assigned to either an experimental group, which received kinesio taping combined with the mendelsohn maneuver (n = 10), or a control group, which received sham kinesio taping combined with the mendelsohn maneuver (n = 10). Interventions were administered three times per week for four weeks, with each session lasting 30 minutes. Suprahyoid muscle activity was measured using electromyography (EMG), vallecular residue ratio was quantified through videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS), and swallowing safety was evaluated using the penetration–aspiration scale(PAS). Results The experimental group demonstrated significantly greater improvements in suprahyoid muscle activation (p<0.05) and reductions in vallecular residue ratio (p<0.05) compared with the control group. However, no significant betweengroup differences were observed in PAS scores (p>0.05). Conclusion The combination of KT and the mendelsohn maneuver enhanced suprahyoid muscle recruitment and reduced postswallow pharyngeal residue, thereby improving swallowing efficiency in stroke patients with dysphagia. These findings support KT as a costeffective and clinically applicable adjunct to evidencebased dysphagia rehabilitation.
