초록
Increasing evidence suggests that inflammation plays an important role in the pathophysiology of ischemic stroke and coronary artery disease. Serum complement 3 (C3) seems to be a powerful predictor of ischemic heart disease. A 46-year-old man presented with right hemiparesis and dysarthria. Brain magnetic resonance imaging showed acute infarction in the left basal ganglia. Two weeks later, unstable angina with two vessels stenosis in coronary artery occurred to him. During admission period, serum C3 level was persistently elevated. This case suggests that not coronary heart disease but also ischemic stroke might be associated with C3 elevation.
