초록
The Narrative Imagery of Bangjin Meiduo: A Fusion of Tibetan Cultural Themes and Folk Art. Bangjin Meiduo is an exemplary work that integrates Tibetan cultural themes with folk craftsmanship in narrative imagery. The story follows Namu, a Tibetan female slave, as she resists the landlord class and sacrifices her life to pave the way for the liberation of other slaves. This work reflects the artistic movement of the 1980s in China, characterized by an exploration of Han-Tang cultural heritage and folk art traditions. At the same time, it vividly presents the humanistic customs and national spirit of Tibetan regions. The visual style of Bangjin Meiduo blends ethnic characteristics, modernity, and decorative elements. The composition incorporates motifs from stone carvings, brick reliefs, and traditional Chinese folk art, employing visual rhetoric to create a unique narrative effect. As a successful example of Han-Tibetan artistic integration, the work demonstrates the fusion of different cultural aesthetics. This study adopts an iconographic approach to analyze the narrative structure within Bangjin Meiduo, examining the symbolic meanings and cultural connotations embedded in the patterns. Specifically, by extracting and comparing the symbolic imagery in Bangjin Meiduo with cultural artifacts and traditional Chinese patterns, this research explores how the work utilizes symbols and motifs to achieve visual transference between Han and Tibetan cultures, thereby conveying cultural values. The findings contribute significantly to the study of regional cultural themes among ethnic minorities, such as the Tibetans, and the incorporation of folk cultural elements in artistic creation. In the context of accelerating globalization, the search for cultural identity, the preservation of traditional culture, and the protection of ethnic heritage have become pressing issues. As competition in global cultural soft power intensifies, visual symbols and narratives—regardless of the evolution of media technologies—continue to transcend linguistic and cultural barriers, facilitating broader cultural dissemination. The visual narrative characteristics of the illustrated story Bangjin Meiduo provide a concrete and vivid case study, offering valuable artistic insights and serving as a reference for future explorations in cross-cultural visual storytelling.
