An Investigation of Worker Preference for Cardboard Box Handle Designs in Grocery Store

This article examines how different handle designs on packaging boxes impact grocery store workers' comfort, ease of use, and safety. The study investigates the most common box sizes and handle types in South Korean grocery stores, and then surveys workers on their preferences for various handle designs. Key findings indicate that workers favor handles positioned at middle and upper levels with no tilt, as these designs reduce the risk of strain. These insights highlight the importance of ergonomic handle design to improve worker comfort and reduce musculoskeletal injuries in manual handling tasks.
