체육 및 스포츠관련 학과의 현황과 과제 및 발전 방안

The purposes of this study are presenting tasks and the present condition of departments of physical education and sport, and with the information gained from the former step, finding new ways that lead to the development of such departments. We researched recently released newspaper reports and various kinds of statistical data and then quoted and analyzed them. For the purpose of filling the vacancies of students almost every university has created a department which was similar to the department of physical education which was a good means of recruiting students or increasing an entrance quota, Now however, physical education departments are also struggling with the problem of recruiting new students. Also the number of university graduates with such a majors is increasing with great rapidity. 11,836 students graduated last year. And it is expected that 21,547 will graduate in 2005 and 24,891 in 2006. Universities produce 883 graduates from graduate schools a year. And as a result of the above examples, it is also expected there will be a vicious circle of producing unemployed people with higher education. Therefore, each university has to hold back the number of departments of physical education and departments which are similar to the former. And they have to boost competitiveness by reducing the scale of students through restructuring. Graduates have to change their course in the job market and carve out their future, from a sports instructor to a worker in the various and new fields in the sports industry. And curriculums, which best match with the characteristic of the departments mentioned above, have to be developed. Furthermore, it is needed to change the name of such departments to put traditional features of them in a definite shape and help students get back their identity.
