The Focus Analysis on the ‘-Kinun’ Predicate Repetition Construction

This paper analyzes the focus in the ‘-kinun’predicate repetition construction, the marked presupposition which exhibits nominalizing(assimilation to the term), preposing, morphological marking projects the various focus, term focus, predicate focus, in particular, verum focus which had been not dealt with in the previous studies. In some previous thesis, there were emphasis on the predicate due to predicate repetition in the ‘-kinun’predicate repetition construction, but we show the correlation of focus, repetition, emphasis explicitly. The condition of repetition is only if it is focus and the repetitive focus is emphasized regardless of term(argument) or predicate. In the ‘-kinun’predicate repetition construction, predicate focus coexists with verum focus on the basis of the characteristics of the predicate focus as default focus(Zimmermann(2016)), the negation of proposition appeared in the ellipsis of predicate, the presupposition which is the form of complete proposition, the answer of yes-no question.
