고구려 수 전쟁의 배경과 전개 -경제적 요인을 중심으로-
초록
Traditionally ancient dynasties of China had conducted unique external policies. The war between Koguryo and Sui broke out because Emperor Yang(煬帝) adopted a kind of ideology Peiju(裵 矩) had proposed. This resulted from the ideology of great unification of neighboring countries as well as North and South Dynasties(南北朝) into unitary world order. But Sui made an unreasonable demand that Koguryo king should pay tribute in person, as a matter of course armed hostilities would break out. There were economic needs under the extreme ideology and ways. Sui Dynasty completed a big canal system(大運河) to establish a nation-wide network for distribution and intended to connect this network to the foreign trade networks. Clearly this intention acted on the struggles with Toyokon(吐谷渾) and Turk(突厥). Sui wished to hold real power in Liaoshi(西) area by the action of the intention. But Koguryo, getting the base of foreign trade and managing the wide networks of trade to Southern Dynasties(南朝) in that area, could not look on the action of Sui. So the first war in 598 proceeded at Yinzhou(營 州) in Liaoshi. The war between Koguryo and Sui had the characteristic of a struggle for economic hegemony. 134 동북아역사논총 15호 The war, for the political ideology and the economic spoils, assumed a large and severe aspect. Koguryo promoted a military force to provide against the war before Sui unified Chen(陳) Dynasty in 589, and checked the attack of Sui with organic use of diverse tactics. Koguryo blindsided effectively the weak points of Sui, the stiffness of a organization and a long supply route.
