The demand for lithium-ion batteries has been rapidly increasing worldwide, driven by the growing development of technologies to achieve carbon neutrality. However, serious environmental issues have been caused by the lithium ions released during the production and disposal of batteries. This study developed a nanopillar Li+-sensor using a two-electrode configuration composed of a nanopillar working electrode and an Ag/AgCl reference electrode. The fabricated sensor demonstrated high sensitivity (59.39 mV/dec), excellent repeatability, rapid response time, and low potential drift. The sensor performance was evaluated using simulated lithium wastewater, measured with a PCB board and electrochemical measurement equipment. This study presents a promising approach to mitigate environmental issues associated with lithium-ion battery production and disposal while offering technological feasibility for efficiently recovering lithium resources.
