Time-Dependent Analysis of Color Changes in Discolored Teeth during Internal Bleaching Using 30% Hydrogen Peroxide

초록

Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the internal bleaching effect of 30% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) according to the application period using the walking bleaching technique. Methods: The color changes (ΔE) of blood-discolored tooth specimens (n = 10) were measured on days 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, and 20 after filling the pulp cavity with 30% hydrogen peroxide. The bleaching agent was replaced every 24 hours, and the color changes were analyzed using ΔE values. After the specimens were washed and dried, the L*, a*, and b* values were measured using a stereoscopic microscope under consistent light source conditions, and the average value was calculated. Results: On day 5 of walking bleaching, a bleaching effect was confirmed that was clearly recognizable to the naked eye, with ΔE exceeding 8. The ΔE continued to increase on days 10, 15, and 20. Conclusions: The time-dependent increase in ΔE confirmed that the internal bleaching effect was cumulatively enhanced. This suggests that while long-term application can enhance the bleaching effect, it can also increase the risk of damage to dental hard tissues, suggesting the importance of determining the optimal application period.
