Application of the Technology Acceptance Model to the Users’ Perception of Smartwatch for Exercise Purposes: Focusing on the Role of Recording

(TAM) in the domain of smartwatch use for exercise. Additionally, this research is to scrutinize the role of recording in the case of smartwatch use. Design/methodology/approach - This work used an online survey for data collection. The number of observations is 355. For testing the research hypotheses, this work adopts both the structural equation model and Hayes’ Process Macro model 7. Findings - The results indicated that all the attributes in TAM are significantly associated. This work also demonstrated the positive effect of recording on the usefulness of a smartwatch for exercise purposes. Moreover, this work disclosed a significant moderating impact of recording on the influence of usefulness on attitude. Research implications or Originality - This research sheds light on the literature by demonstrating the accountability of TAM in the case of smartwatch use for exercise purposes. Furthermore, this research presents the managerial insight for a better system of smartwatch aiming for exercise purposes.
