Objective: The purpose of this study to develop a safety work procedure through a literature review to reinforce the field operability of the movable ladders. Background: The number of falls from movable ladders increases every year in Korea. The accident type is the lack of a work platform, rapid work speed, non-slip installation, no fall prevention and use of damaged ladders. Therefore, it is necessary to propose a new safety work model through literature review with the safety work guidelines for movable ladders. Method: For this study, OSHA, ASTM and so on were investigated about movable ladder safety guidelines. Based on the results, FGI (Focus Group Interview) was held to discuss making a movable ladder safety model. FGI consisted of 3 persons with construction safety managers over 10 years and 3 persons with professors working in the safety engineering department. Results: There were investigated 19 safety items for movable safety ladders, such as the prohibition of exceeding the maximum load capacity, working near electrical wires, etc. Through this investigation, FGI made a safety work model for movable ladders such as 1) investigation of the work environment, 2) ladder installation, 3) working, and 4) ladder storage using matching the 19 safety items. Conclusion: The proposed safety model could reduce many constructions and other field accidents. Application: If a smartphone application is developed with the suggested safety model for the movable ladder, many workers will benefit from it.
