The Economic Effect of Korea-Japan FTA on Fisheries Sector and Effective Countermeasure for Korea

This paper investigates the economic effect of Korea-Japan FTA on fisheries industry and the substantial problems for Korea. The summary and concluding remarks of the study are as follows. Firstly, Korea has to make every effort to strengthen international competitiveness of fisheries industry by increasing productivity and restructuring the industry. Secondly, Korea has to set up detail road map which is based on the complete general outline of the FTA schedule to the extent of globalization. Thirdly, it is important for Korea to analyze the effect of Korea-Japan FTA on the fisheries sector in Korea and to make an long-range countermeasure through a working group established in government. Finally, it is required of special support system for those who are working for countermeasure.
