초록

The rapid increase of carbon dioxide (CO2) in atmospheric is accelerating climate crisis and global warming. Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) have interested on the mitigation methods for climate crisis. Especially, carbon mineralization is emerging process for carbon sequestration via converts CO2 into carbonate minerals. This study investigates the potential of carbon mineralization by Fe-based carbon mineral (e.g. siderite) rather than Ca2+ and Mg2+. Batch experiments were conducted under anoxic conditions at 25oC using initial concentrations of Fe2+ and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) at 10, 50, and 100 mM over a 30th days. The results presented 50% of Fe2+ and DIC decreased in solution, accompanied by a decline in pH to 5.00, approximately. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed the crystallization of siderite above 50 mM of Fe2+ and DIC concentration. First and secondary peaks characterized at 2 theta = 32.0o and 52.5o, whereas the amorphous precipitates determined at 10 mM condition.
