The objective of this study was to determine the effect of experimental diets containing different amountss of the black soldier fly pupa (BSFP) on egg production, egg quality, blood lipid profiles, and faecal bacteria in layer laying hens. A total of 240 layers were randomly assigned into 4 treatment groups (0, 35, 50, and 65 g/kg BSFP, 6 replicates per treatment) and fed for 16 weeks. Egg production and egg weight in treatment groups fed with BSFP were higher by 2.60 and 4.47%, respectively, than those in the control group (no BSFP). The values of Haugh unit and egg shell thickness in treatment groups fed with BSFP were higher by 6.32 and 33.3%, respectively, compared to those of the control. Triglyceride, total cholesterol, and LDL-C levels in PBSF added groups were lower by 15.7, 11.7, and 26.2%, respectively, compared to those of the control group. HDL-C levels in BSFP groups were also higher by 34.9% than those in the control group. Blood IgG contents in treatment groups added with BSFP at 35, 50, and 65 g/kg were higher by 22.5, 46.1, and 56.6% than that in the control group. Lactobacillus counts in BSFP groups were higher than that in the control group in a concentration-dependent manner. The highest counts of Lactobacillus was obtained for the group added BSFP at 65 g/kg which was higher by 15.8% than that of the control. Colony forming units (CFUs) of coliform, total aerobic bacteria, and Escherichia coli in groups added with BSFP were lower by 16.3, 12.4, and 20.1%, respectively, when compared to that of the control group without the addition of BSFP.
