The effects of anisotropic surface energy on the microstructure development of porous materials have been studied through Monte Carlo simulation using a three dimensional lattice. The changes in porosity (f<inf>u</inf>), mean grain diameter (D<inf>s</inf>), fraction of connected pores (f<inf>v,c</inf>) and contiguity of the solid phase (C) were examined in cases with three different γ<inf>SV</inf> relations and initial grain diameters (D<inf>s,o</inf>). It has been found that larger γ<inf>SV</inf> enhances sintering of particles and increases C and does not change D<inf>s</inf>. And Introducing anisotropic γ<inf>SV</inf> brought an increase in f<inf>v</inf> and f<inf>v,c</inf> and an decrease in D<inf>s</inf> and C, and this tendency become more marked for fine D<inf>s,o</inf>.
