초록

Paul Grimault is the foremost representative of French animation. He was supported by Jacques Prévert, his long time friend, who joined Les Gémeaux studio as a scene designer for Le petit soldat in 1947. They collaborated on the feature film La bergere et le ramoneur. But the production stalled in 1950 because of the furious dispute of his partner André Sarrut. In 1967, he got hold of the negative of the unfinished film and managed to complete it. Released in 1980 with the new title Le roi et l'oiseau, it won the prize Delluc. Approximately half of the film consisted of old material while the script were restructured and transformed in a great mesure : the title, the background, the protagonists and the plot, etc. Le roi et l'oiseau is not only an adaptation but also a new interpretation of Andersen's tale in a sense.
