Closed-Form Expression of the Phase Shift in the First-Order Eikonal Model and Its Application to Heavy-Ion Elastic Scattering

We present closed-form expressions for the zero- and the first-order phase shifts in the eikonal model based on an approximated Woods-Saxon potential, which has been applied to elastic scatterings of the C-12+Ca-40 and the C-12+Zr-90 systems at E-lab = 300 and 420 MeV. The calculated results, taking into account up to the analytic first-order eikonal phase shift, show fairly good agreement with the observed data. We have found that the closed-form expression up to the first-order phase shift in the eikonal model is a good alternative to an analysis of heavy-ion elastic scattering.
