The information structural articulation of ‘-kinun' predicate repetition construction and the reduced cleft

This paper presents ‘-kinun’ construction as the reduced cleft which shows the various focus scope such as term focus, predicate focus. In this clefts, there exists the marked presupposition, ‘(...)V/A-kinun’, whose the morphological and syntactic characteristics exhibits morphological marking, clefting, movement. In particular, the focus in ‘-kinun’ construction show the syntactic disconnectedness which is the defining feature of a completive focus construction of the information structure, presupposition+ focus. In some previous thesis, the ‘-kinun’ construction had been presented as predicate cleft of the information structure, presupposition+ focus too, but they did not pay attention to the informational value of presupposition. On the basis of the anaphoric expression of ‘hata’ and the negation of proposition appeared in the ellipsis of predicate, this paper emphasizes on the function of the nominalized predicate, ‘(...)V/A-kinun’ as presupposition, which consistently forms the various focus on its own such as term focus, predicate focus.
