초록
In the previous study, the pelletized adsorbents were prepared from MSWI(Municipal Solid Waste Incineration) fly ash by chemical activation with coal tar pitch and K2CO3 as carbon source and activation agent, respectively. In this research, we found that activation of adsorbent by metal oxide(principally Ca) in fly ash plays a major role in the reactivity of adsorbent. CaO was the most effective metal oxides for catalytic activation which promote to form pores of the resulting adsorbent by their intercalation into the interlayers of the carbon network structure. Micro-pore was more developed than meso-pore at the CaO addition ratio of 7.1wt%/100g adsorbent. And at the addition of CaO(7.1%), calcium silicate(Ca2SiO4), calcite(CaCO3), larnite(Ca2SiO4) and spurrite(Ca5(SiO4)2CO3) were formed. Addition of metal oxide such as CaO to the adsorbent has lowered the activation temperature by about 100℃ for obtaining the same adsorption capacity as in the non-add adsorbent. The adsorption capacity become lower above the CaO of 7.1wt% as a successive widening of the pores and a severe deactivation due to sintering.
