The Crisis of Originality and Aesthetic Reconstruction of Sculpture in the Generative AI Era

초록

The rapid evolution of generative artificial intelligence has had a significant effect on modern sculptural practice, casting serious doubt on artistic originality and aesthetic value. In this work, the authors analyze the crisis of originality and how aesthetic reconstruction occurs in sculpture in the age of generative AI. The study employs qualitative theoretical analysis and case-based interpretation to examine AI technologies in form generation, spatial construction, material translation, and conceptual expression. The results show that generative AI shifts creative control between the human artist and algorithmic systems, and the sculptor is no longer seen as a manual creator but as a facilitator of computational processes. Instead of diminishing artistic creativity, AI-assisted production encourages hybrid digital media practices characterized by repetitive generation and cross-media development. The research claims that the process of originality reconstruction is based on human–AI cooperation, which creates a new aesthetic order of distributed authorship and situational authenticity and contributes to the theoretical debate on digital art and media aesthetics.
