초록

This research analyzes how the position of openings affects the lateral behavior of reinforced concrete outrigger systems. A schematic design of a 60-story building was created, focusing on three key parameters: the opening position in the outrigger wall, the size of the opening, and the outrigger wall thickness. The effects of these factors on lateral behavior, including lateral displacement in top-floor and maximum principal stress in the outrigger wall, were evaluated. The study found that openings in the outrigger wall can reduce structural performance under lateral loads. However, when the opening’s location and size are properly chosen, the lateral stiffness required for high-rise buildings can still be adequately maintained. © 2025 Architectural Institute of Korea.
