Differences in strategies of upward influence : A comparative study of managers from the six regions of China

초록

With China becoming as a major player on the international business scene, it is becoming more essential for Western businesses to understand the work values and people’s upward influence behaviors in this large and regionally diverse country. Thus, the focus of this study is identifying upward influence behavior differences among the 6 regions of China. In the process of comparing their differences, we identify region-clusters based on the infrastructure characteristics and different work values of the regions. What we have found indicates that work values are of great importance in explaining the ethical perceptions of upward influence behavior.
