`Gogu Valley' is a high yielding and raw eating potato cultivar. `Gogu Valley' is a clonal selection resulting from the cross between `Shepody' and 'A8812-3'. It is a medium to late-maturing type of potato cultivar. It has medium plant height, dark green foliage, medium flowering habit and light purple flowers. Tubers are smooth and long, and have red skin, creamy white flesh, shallow eye depth, and long dormancy. It has high level of tuber uniformity and good keeping quality. It has stable yield under wide range of climatic conditions. This cultivar is resistant to tuber soft rot and moderately resistant to late blight, common scab and potato virus Y (PVY), but susceptibility to black scurf disease of potato. It is also resistant to internal and external tuber disorders, particularly, hollow heart, internal brown spot and cracking. Tubers contain higher amount of antioxidants. `Gogu Valley' is suitable for raw eating, fresh table purpose and French fries. The specific gravity of this cultivar is 1.067 (medium) which is similar to the check cultivar 'Superior' (1.066). 'Gogu Valley' is capable of yielding 32.8 t.ha(-1), which is about 16% higher than 'Superior' under optimum agronomical practices in Korea.
