초록

The purpose of this study was to build a model geared toward determining the structural causal relationships and paths of variables related to the college adjustment of nursing students and testing the effects and influences of the variables in a comprehensive manner, and to verify the model based on the empirical data of nursing students. This is a study of structural model to suggest a hypothetical model for resilience, a sense of humor, coping of humor and empathy skills, which are the factors affecting the college adjustment of nursing students, and to test the goodness-of-fit of the model and the hypotheses of this study. Data were gathered from June 1 through December 10, 2017, from 225 third-and fourth-year nursing students in three different universities that were located in Gangwon Province, Chungcheong Province and Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, respectively. They were taking a practical course in nursing. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS version 22.0 and AMOS version 22.0 Programs. Resilience had a 0.854 ( p=0.004) direct effect on college adjustment, and the indirect effect that it produced through a sense of humor and empathy skills which were the mediating variables was-0.686 ( p=0.005). The mediating variables produced perfect mediating effects. Given the findings of the study, successful programs that aim to bolster the resilience, sense of humor and empathy skills of nursing students to enhance their college adjustability should be developed and applied. © Rushing Water Publishers Ltd. 2020.
