초록
This study aimed to conceptualize Somatosensory Yoga, a form of yoga that fosters self-recognition through sensory awareness and promotes the integration of body and mind. In particular, the study sought to clearly distinguish Somatosensory Yoga from existing sensory-based practices such as Somayoga, Somatic Yoga, and Mindfulness Yoga by exploring its theoretical independence and practical feasibility, with a focus on integrated sensory awareness. To this end, the Delphi technique was employed to gather the opinions of 17 experts from various fields, including yoga, rehabilitation, and neuroscience. The validity of the proposed definition and core components of Somatosensory Yoga was examined. As a result, Somatosensory Yoga was defined as “a form of yoga that restores the mind and body by recognizing and training the self through integrated sensory awareness.” Its core components were identified as: (1) integrated sensory awareness, (2) self-awareness and training, and (3) mind–body restoration. This study proposes a theoretical framework for Somatosensory Yoga and discusses its applicability to populations with diminished sensory function.
