초록

Integral imaging is a three-dimensional display method that provides a continuous viewing point, and parallax image array (PIA) is a key element in this imaging system. Usually, a PIA is generated by using a lens array or a camera array. In this paper, we investigate the applicability of a diffraction grating on the PIA generation. The properties of the PIA generated by diffraction grating are theoretically analyzed and compared to that of a lens array. For integral imaging, the grating conditions for generating a comparable PIA are investigated. Experimental results are presented and discussed in detail. (C) 2010 Optical Society of America
