Effects of comprehensive nursing service on patient satisfaction, length of hospital stay, and incidence of falls and pressure ulcer

This study was to investigate the effects of the Ministry-of-Health-and-Welfareinitiated comprehensive nursing service on patient satisfaction, length of hospital stay, and incidence of falls and pressure ulcer. The participants were 216 patients in one general hospital. Data were collected at 1 and 6 months following a pilot program and analyzed using SPSS. The patient satisfaction scores at six months were higher than the scores at one month (t = 3.44, p = 0.001). The difference in the lengths of hospital stay was not statistically significant between the two periods (t = 0.52, p = 0.602). Although the rates of falls and pressure ulcer at six months were lower than the rates at one month, there were no significant differences between the two periods (X2 = 0.30, p = 0.592, X2 = 0.96, p = 0.325).The finding can be utilized to establish criteria for systemizing comprehensive nursing service. © Research India Publications.
