학습자 변인이 언어학습책략 선호에 미치는 영향

초록

This study investigated language learning strategies used by foreign language learners who endeavor to understand language better or learn it faster. The study also tried to find out whether learners’ different backgrounds affect their use of learning strategies. The 116 participants in this study were administered questionnaires concerning using of language learning strategies, and individual differences. Each student completed the questionnaires including language learning strategies, personality and brain dominance check lists. The results showed that students used a variety of learning strategies. Among the six categories of Oxford's language learning strategy inventory, those characterized by compensation strategies were most often used by the students, while affective strategies were least used. It was found that there was some evidence of a relationship among the use of strategies, their cultural backgrounds and personality. The findings of the study indicate that the strategies the participants would use were correlated with a variety of learner variables. Therefore, it is necessary that teachers understand individual differences among learners before providing explicit strategy training in the classroom teaching.
