We investigated the evolution of an electron beam in a planar wiggler field with a self-electric field and a self-magnetic field. In order to suppress the emittance blow-up and the increase in energy spread from the three-dimensional effects on the off-axis electron and the self-generated field effects, we applied a bent wiggler field. We also developed a three-dimensional simulation code for a planar wiggler with a bent pole face. To optimize the bent parameter, we calculated the transverse trajectories, the emittance, the beam radius, and the electron density of electron beam. This method of using a bent pole face is expected to enhance the efficiency compared to that of an unbent planar wiggler in a free-electron laser.
