Case Study on Curriculum Design of Chinese Immersion Education Program: On the Case of KU-China Global Leadership Program

This essay have analyzed the curriculum design of KU-China Global Leadership Program(KUCGL). This program is designed to elevate Chinese language skills synthetically through a intensive short term course, to expand students’ diverse interest in China, and to strengthen their basis of language for the related field in the future. This article describes objects, peculiar features and distinctiveness of this program and reviews achievements and questions of this program. Designers and operators of this program carried out effective instruction suitable for the educational aims of this program. At the same time, they maintained consistency and continuity of the course between Korea University and Renmin University. The survey shows that most of the participants were highly satisfied with the language curriculum of this program but lots of higher level students required more selective and intensive course according to language skills. Thus, it seems to be necessary to consider subdividing the courses and teaching materials into several segment according to student’s level and requirements at the next cycle.
