A Study on the Shelter Space and Non-expanded Balcony and Plans for Apartments

The study was intended to investigate the status of non-expanded balcony and shelter space to identify whether or not those were met resident's needs, the purpose of the regulation after permitted to do balcony extension work legalizing modification of balcony structure on December 2005. This study was conducted through the face-to-face interview, the analysis of plans and literature review. The results of this study were as follows; Non-expanded balcony was used to the place for laundry, shelter ,assistance space for kitchen, warehouse. The locations of shelter were backside of dress room/bathroom, bathroom two side opened, kitchen. The function and use of non -expanded balcony in unit plan of apartments have not only changed but it also influenced forms of unit habitation and spatial configurations of inner space.
