제작 주체와 전통문화 인식에 따른 중국 애니메이션 스토리텔링 특성 고찰 — <백사:연기>를 중심으로

This study examines the characteristics of Chinese animation storytelling through White Snake: Origin, focusing on changes in production entities and traditional culture. First, it investigates the transformation of production entities and storytelling across different periods. Production entities can be categorized into individual, state-owned, and private sectors. Individual-level production entities created ambiguous enlightenment storytelling that awakened social members through traditional culture. State-owned studios produced animations centered on soft storytelling based on ideology. In the 21st century, Chinese animation transformed into hybrid storytelling due to the industrialization of animation and changes in private production entities. Meanwhile, shifts in perception of traditional culture influenced changes in animation storytelling. This revealed that traditional culture has been composed of folk culture and state culture through tribal society, dynastic periods, and modern times. Particularly, during the Xi Jinping era, the principles of the Chinese Dream and excellent traditional Chinese culture confirmed that the post-80s and post-90s generations influenced animation through the combination of individual self-narratives. The analysis results show that White Snake: Origin is formed through the combination of the original narrative of The Legend of the White Snake and the self-awareness of contemporary young generations. Furthermore, the work can be seen as a case where the modern reconstruction of traditional culture and the autobiographical storytelling of the younger generation are fused through the modern transformation of Taoist symbols, folk beliefs, and Confucian-Buddhist-Taoist values. Chinese animation has formed a storytelling system that changes according to the inheritance of traditional culture and generational awareness.
