3D 프린팅을 이용한 가구디자인 표현 기법에 관한 연구 - 막돌탑의 형태와 적층 구조를 중심으로 -

This study explores the integration of the structural and symbolic elements of natural stone tower traditional stone pagodas inspired by nature into contemporary furniture design. These stone towers, often built by stacking stones with care and intention, carry deep spiritual and religious significance, embodying human wishes and aspirations. Drawing inspiration from their layered construction, this research identifies the key design concepts of segmentation, combination, and continuity to inform the design direction. To realize this concept, a new mode of expression was developed by combining 3D modeling with additive manufacturing technologies. Furniture components were modeled digitally and fabricated using FDM 3D printing. The printed structures were then refined by attaching laser-cut wooden veneers of various species, merging digital precision with natural materiality. This production method transcends the limitations of traditional handcrafted techniques, offering an innovative approach that harmonizes natural inspiration with advanced fabrication technologies. The study highlights the potential of digital tools to transform furniture-making practices and suggests that such a fusion of 3D technology and cultural symbolism can be extended to fields including architecture, sculpture, and craft.
