Effects of manipulation on different chopstick materials to age and gender of school aged children

Background/Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of manipulation on different chopstick materials to age and gender of elementary school children. Methods/Statistical analysis: Chopsticks Manipulation Test (CMT) was used to assess hand manipulation. Findings: There was no difference between chopsticks manipulation and material according to gender difference of elementary school children. There was a significant difference between chopsticks manipulation and material according to age difference of children. Improvements/Applications: The difference of chopsticks’ material according to the age difference of elementary school children was correlated with children’s chopsticks manipulation. Especially, chopsticks made of wood and metal showed a great difference in children’s ability to manipulate chopsticks. Therefore, selection of the appropriate material for the age will be helpful for the operation ability of the lower grade children. © 2018, Indian Journal of Public Health Research and Development.
