초록
This study applied Social Comparison Theory(SCT) to compare and analyze the relative leisure deprivation and life satisfaction of persons with disabilities in South Korea and China. The findings indicate that Korean persons with disabilities experience higher levels of resource-based leisure deprivation, whereas their Chinese counterparts exhibit higher levels of cognitive and emotional leisure deprivation. This suggests that relative leisure deprivation is shaped not only by the absolute availability of leisure resources but also by the process of social comparison. Differences between the two countries were also observed in the relationship between relative leisure deprivation and life satisfaction. For Korean persons with disabilities, cognitive leisure deprivation was associated with lower life satisfaction, whereas Chinese persons exhibited higher life satisfaction despite experiencing egoistical leisure deprivation. These results empirically confirm the influence of social comparison on leisure perception and satisfaction among persons with disabilities, underscoring the need for leisure policies that extend beyond physical support to include psychological well-being. Future research should examine the relationship between relative leisure deprivation and life satisfaction across diverse cultural contexts and explore its impact on behavioral changes, such as participation in leisure activities and the development of social relationships.
