초록

A walking campaign is a reliable method for delivering participant-specific and goal-oriented messages and activities. This study investigated the effectiveness of a walking campaign on knowledge, attitude, and stages of change for physical activity and the factors related to advancement of the stage. The Gangwon Walking Campaign was implemented on April 7, 2007. Of the 15,980 people who participated in the campaign, 297 participants completed pre-and post-surveys. Walking over 30 min daily increased from 3.90 to 4.38 days a week over the course of the campaign. Stage advancement occurred among 26.7% participants, with 87.2% reaching the action/maintenance stage. A walking campaign provides momentum for regular physical activity; however, encouraging individuals in the precontemplation/contemplation stage to undertake physical activity remains a challenge. Efforts to cultivate a desirable environment for walking should accompany campaigns. © 2010 ISSP.
