Damage detection using the curvature of mean FRF data in the first resonance frequency

This work provides a damage detection method utilizing frequency response function (FRF) data measured in the neighborhood of the first resonance frequency. Normalizing and averaging the measured FRF data at each measurement point, the curvature of the resulting numerical values is utilized as an index to evaluate the existence of damage. It is shown that the proposed statistical analysis can be explicitly utilized under the existence of external noise. © 2014 International Information Institute.
