Reflection on Modern Reform and Search for Diversion in Qu Qiubai’s Essay of Journey to New Russia(Starving Country)

Reformers(Intellectuals) who are the actual subject of modern reform drew the figure of nation, but recognized them as to be negative existence. In addition, They required ignorant people(mass) to perceive immutable nature and to internalize the scientific view and method as well as the superiority of Western. But due to being based on his own (real) life, Qu Qiubai was able not to be caught in the trap of abstraction and not to be deluded with distorted realities. Above all, he could extended his own personal identity to social category like class and nation. This helped him to find the dynamic of social & historical development. That is inside psychology of both personal and social(class and nation). He comprehended that the application of theory needed subjective practice of subject, and these were inside psychology, that is culture. Through the journey to Russia, the country of starvation, he presented the new notion of reality, subject and culture as the new method for social reform of China.
