Journal of Coastal Research, SI 64 (Proceedings of the 11th International Coastal Symposium), 547-551. Szczecin, Poland, ISSN 0749-0208 In the present study, we present a rip current prediction model combined with a morphological change model. It implies that the calculated morphology is used as an input to wave deformation and rip current combined prediction models. By this iterative procedure repeating through the wave-current-morphological models, it is possible to provide the reliable rip current prediction. This coupled model system shows a good agreement with field measurements. The morphological changes are calculated by solving the conservation of sediment transport equation. In calm wave condition, the streaming flow contributes sediments to keep moving onshore. The field measurement was performed in Haeundae Beach located on the southeastern corner of Korean Peninsula. This combination of field measurement system with numerical modeling has been proposed to forecast dangerous rip currents in advance during each swimming season.
