Nonlinear phenomena in a high-gain free-electron laser

We investigate nonlinear phenomena by using the perturbation expansion for the solution of the scaled equations for the evolution of an electron distribution and a monochromatic radiation field. The dimensionless intensity is calculated from the Pade approximation and is compared to the result of the numerical simulation of the scaled equation. The average self-amplified spontaneous emission (SASE) intensity, the intensity fluctuation, and the field correlations are calculated in the saturation region. We also investigate the effects of the perturbation parameter on the radiation intensity.
