초록
The purpose of this study attempted to examine consumer attitudes towards the use of genetic modification in food products. Six research hypotheses were tested by SEM(structural equation modelling), and the following factors were investigated: social trust and general knowledge as two antecedents; perceived benefits and perceived risks as mediating variables; and consumer attitudes as the endogenous construct. Total 273 questionnaires were used for the data analysis. The results indicated that consumer attitudes towards GM food were determined by perceived benefits and perceived risks. Additionally, general knowledge about GM technology had an significant effect on perceived benefits and perceived risks, while there were no significant effects of social trust on perceived benefits and perceived risks. Implications of the results and limitations were discussed.
