Structure and magnetic properties of (Ru0.9Nb0.1)Sr2(Cd1.34-xNd<s ub>xCe0.66)Cu2Oz system

Polycrystalline samples of (Ru0.9Nb0.1)Sr-2(Gd1.34NdxCe0.66)C(2)Oz (X = 0 - 0.67) have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrical resistivity, thermoelectric power and magnetization measurements. Resistivity measurements revealed that the onset transition temperature (T) decreased slightly from T-co = 40 K for x = 0 to T-co = 22 K for x = 0.6 T Magnetization measurements showed that the partial substitutMn of Gd by Nd leads to a significant decrease in the magnetic ordering temperature. A suppression of the weak ferromagnetic component of the field-cooled (PC) magnetization with Nd-doping content was also observed for the samples with > 0.34. The changes in the superconducting transition temperature, the magnetic ordering temperature and the weak ferromagnetic component of the _PC magnetization are discussed in conjutiction with the change in hole coilcentration and the local structural changes in the Ru sublattice induced by Net doping, based on the Rietveld refinements of the XRD data.
