초록
The purpose of this article is to examine Choi, In-hee’s poems. Choi, In-hee, a poet from Gangwon-Yeongdong region, composed poems in the 1950s. His poems in Yeojeongbaegcheog(『旅程百尺』) depict nature as a world of innocence and peace by means of oriental contemplation. He attempted to find beauty and meaning of life by observing nature. His poetry is characterized by naturalistic tendency and traditional short lyricism. In addition, he pursued the world of Zen which has its roots in Buddhist philosophy. However, he kept a more realistic view as well, standing up to the modern society and its loss of humanity. A case in point is a series of poems composed in the later days of his life as a poet, which feature a prose style and poetic imaginations derived from the real world. In this way, the traditional short lyricism and the modern techniques employed demonstrate the modernity of Choi, In-hee’s poems. When seen from the perspective of Gangwon-Yeongdong regional literature, his poems have a historical value.
