초록
Traditional Korean Seowon architecture, embodying principles that emphasize adaptation to the natural topography andorganic spatial connections, offers significant implications for the outdoor spatial planning of modern museums. Specifically, Seowonarchitecture reflects the unique characteristics of its sloping terrain, embodying strict spatial hierarchy and zoning. This architecturecreates an outdoor spatial system that harmoniously integrates natural and cultural environments, educational and ancestral functions. The symmetrical layout and organic integration of educational and ceremonial spaces demonstrate that Seowon are not simply buildingsbut complex socio-cultural spaces. This study seeks to apply these principles of traditional Seowon architecture to the outdoor spatialdesign of modern museums, particularly those built on-site. Focusing on the case of the Chusa Calligraphy Museum, this studyproposes ways to combine traditional spatial principles with modern demands, utilizing topography, expanding spatial hierarchies, andmaintaining a sense of place and cultural identity. Through this approach, we explore a design direction that promotes regional andlocal identity while strengthening socio-cultural functions, striving to harmonize traditional architectural principles with modern publiccultural facilities.
