초록
There are immense researches on single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs), which characterized one variation out of every 1000 polymorphisms, to increase economical profits in stock breeding. Especially, SNP of MC1R gene is used to distinguish Korean cattle(Hanwoo) from other kinds of cows to find characteristics of their coat color. Additionally, there are now researches on c-KIT receptor gene and other genes, which may be used to distinguish Hanwoo, even though no significant differences were found. Furthermore, D-loop region of mitochodrial DNA(mtDNA), is reported that much more variation of polymorphisms than any other region in mtDNA, may be useful for the analysis of cytoplasmic genetic variation, genetic analysis of maternal lineage, and individual identification. In cattle, leptin, ADSF/resistin, adipocyte fatty acid binding protein 4, thyroglobulin, carboxypeptidase E, and micromolar calcium-activated neutral protease genes might have significant effects on economically important traits such as marbling score and backfat thickness. Therefore SNPs of these genes have been considered available marker for carcass quality traits in cattle. Some researches reported that the differences of SNPs might be the cause of characteristic of Hanwoo's resistance in bovine spongiform encephalopathy(BSE). A number of the SNPs collected from researches on various genes will be useful genetic resources for the development of genetic markers for economic traits in Hanwoo
